A worn out axle will take your trailer off the road faster than almost anything else. The good news is that ordering the right replacement is simple once you know what to measure.
Watch the video below, grab a tape measure, and write your numbers down as you go.
The measurements we need
- Hub face to hub face — the outside face of one hub to the outside face of the other.
- Spring center to spring center — center of one spring seat to the center of the other.
- Capacity — check the tag or stamp on the axle tube if it is still readable.
- Bolt pattern — number of studs and the circle they sit on.
- Brakes — none, electric or hydraulic, and the brake diameter.
- Spring type — slipper or eye to eye.
